Smith Street Society Jazz Band

Bruce McNichols
(banjo, soprano sax, vocals)

Bruce is the founder and leader of The Smith Street Society Jazz Band. Before becoming a full-time musician, he was a professional broadcaster. In addition to working with Smith Street, he also performs with old-time jazz bands in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Joe Licari (clarinet)
Joe is perhaps the hottest clarinet man performing today. Able to "swing his head off" at any time, in any place, under any conditions. Joe is also a long-time member of The Red Onion Jazz Band, one of New York City’s premier traditional jazz bands.
Barbara Dreiwitz (tuba)
Dubbed “Tallulah Tuba” by Jim Lowe, Barbara spent 28 years with the Woody Allen Jazz Band working at the famed Michael’s Pub in Manhattan. Barbara’s positive personality is a welcome force in Smith Street and in any band she works with.
  Dick Voigt (piano)
Dick’s unique syncopated style is the perfect compliment to the Smith Street sound. The former leader of Yale’s celebrated dixieland band, Eli’s Chosen Six, Dick came to Smith Street in 1997.

  Rocco Patierno (trombone, vocals)
Rocco is the leader of the Original Hambone Kelly’s Banjo Band and is in demand by numerous bands in the New York metropolitan area. His smooth trombone sound is rivaled by his equally smooth vocals. Rocco was a featured performer with the celebrated Great Swamp Jazz Band.
