The Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Band
In 1971, 40 years after Bix's death, they traveled to his hometown of Davenport, Iowa to play a few tunes over his grave. To their astonishment, their visit caused such a publicity stir that wise heads in Davenport were inspired to launch the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival, which is now in its 33rd year, drawing large crowds from all over the world.

On The RoadHere, from tapes forgotten for over over twenty years, are the choicest jazz moments selected from the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Band's concert for the Potomac River Jazz Club and the appearances at St. Louis Ragtime Festivals from over two decades ago. This is the BBMJB at its absolute best! |

One More TimeTo commemorate Bix's 100th birthday the BBMJB reunited in New Jersey for two concerts and a recording session. This CD collection results from this, recorded March 14, 15, 16, 2003 in Lafayette and Bridgewater, NJ. Most of these tunes were recorded by Bix from 1924 through 1931 (the exceptions being "Antibes" and "Apex Blues"), though there is no intense effort made here to copy them exactly as they were originally played. This is the band's third album. |
