To Don & All,

As the system is now set up, all Radio OKOM programs are in a queue which runs, and then repeats. Each week, we add two to four new programs into the mix. This results in the cycle being little longer, each time around.

These days, we have about a month's worth of programming. During that time, most of the shows are old ones. The newest being about a month old. The older ones are years old.

Thanks to the creation of this OKOM Trad Jazz e-Mail Discussion Group (go to www.okom.com for info), bands can now post announcements about gigs, recordings etc.). We have stopped announcing events on Radio OKOM since the Group is up to date. However, our older programs still carry those stale announcements.
Please understand that this thing is still a work in progress and we are earnestly attempting to improve it.
Waiting in the wings, is the Radio OKOM programming computer which will allow us to run certain programs at certain times and days. We're working on the prodigious task of scheduling the programs and we're desperately attempting to squeeze in the time to take care of the computer programming of same.

As for records not being heard for years, that just ain't so. When we get new recordings, we usually play them within a week or so. True, it may take a month before they're first heard, but it will not take years. Whether or not the people who send the recordings happen to be listening when it's first played, is another story.

Again, we're really workin' hard here at OKOM and we're not about to quit.

Thank you everyone, for your kind words, and thank you Don, for your understanding of what we're doing here.
By the way, I too, would love to get Radio OKOM in my car. Wouldn't that be nice.
McN

The only problem with sending CD's to Radio OKOM is that we probably
won't hear them for a year or so. Given their available resources and
personnel, the material (that is comments and discussions) generally are
those recorded in 2002-2005. With the music they play, this is
irrelevant unless they mention a specific event, concert or gig which
may have taken place several years ago. They apparently don't have the
time or people (all volunteer) to do all the technical things needed to
prepare more contemporary broadcast material. It's sometimes
frustrating when you hear something discussed that you could contribute
more information or would like to comment on, then realize the
discussion took place two or more years ago. Otherwise it's a great
resource, and I listen almost every day. I wish I could figure out how
to get it in my car. I guess I could if I had a fancy cell
phone/portable computer set up. Maybe an iPhone would do it.
