Hi GJB Fans,

June 22-24, Hot Steamed Jazz Festival, Essex, CT

Well, the weather wasn't perfect, but the music sure was! We got wet and we
froze on Friday evening, but that didn't phase the fans. With coats and
earmuffs, they huddled to stay warm, but they stayed, and they had a ball. It
was a bit chilly on Sat evening, but Sat and Sunday were picture perfect days.
In spite of a little bad weather, this was a great Jazz Festival, very well
organized, and top notch bands. Many thanks to the late Joe Bombaci, Shirley
Bombaci, Dick Moore, Karen Senn, and countless other volunteers, for a job
well done. On to 2008!

This is going to be great too!! Sun July 1, 6-8:30, Beachhead Restaurant, 3
Cosey Beach Ave East Haven, CT. The location and views are spectacular!
Right on Long Island Sound! Check out their web site, beachheadct.com. It's our
first appearance at the Beachhead. In fact, it's our first club date ever
in East Haven. It's dinner and dancing to the Galvanized Jazz Quintet. Call
203-469-5450 for dinner reservations now. This is a great spot, with great
food (I ate there recently, again!), but limited seating, so make your dinner
reservation now!! This could be the start of something BIG. Remember that
other Sunday gig we had in Northford!

SINATRA-DON TRENNER!

I did it again! This is the third time I saw Frank Sinatra JR with Don
Trenner's 36-piece orchestra at the Mohegan Sun Cabaret Theater. It was
fabulous, again! Sinatra's voice is better than ever, and the Don Trenner orchestra
is sensational. I know, this has nothing to do with the Galvanized Jazz
Band, but I also know how much you GJB fans appreciate good music, and I just
wanted to share this with you.

SUNDAYS at Marisa's in Trumbull! Over for now!
We'll see you again on Sunday, Sep 9th, 6-8:30, once again with Jane
Campedelli and trombonist Harvey Tibbs! Be sure to make your reservations early,
like yesterday! Remember, there is no cover or minimum at Marisa's, but because
the food is fabulous, you're going to want to order dinner. Marisa's is
very easy to get to: take the Merritt Parkway toward Trumbull, get off at Exit
48, head north for about 3 miles, and it's on your right. This is a good size
restaurant, with plenty of seating and parking. From Guilford, it took me
only 35 minutes to get there. Marisa's address is 6540 Main Street, Trumbull,
CT 06611. The telephone number is 203-459-4225. Call now, before it sells
out again! Only one other date scheduled for 2007, Sunday, Oct 21st!

Bill Logozo's Heartbeat Jazz Band will be at Olivers in Essex on Thursday,
July 5th, 7-10PM, with Skip Hughes! This is a great spot, nice atmosphere, and
good food at a reasonable price. Of course the music is hot hot hot!
Dancing too! Look for them at Olivers the first Thursday of each month. Contact
Bill Logozzo at Bill @nutmegchrome.com for information on the band and how to
order CDs.

Two more Jazz Festivals! Be sure to buy your tickets in advance. It
really helps!

~July 27-29, Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Festival, Moodus, CT. Go to
www.ctjazz.org. We'll be there with Bob Price, Jane Campedelli and Herb
Gardner!

~November 16-18, Suncoast Dixieland Jazz Classic, Clearwater Beach, Floprida.
Go to www.jazzclassic.net. We won't be there.
this year, but go anyway as the band lineup is fabulous! We hope to be back
in 2008!

OTHER GJB DATES TO JOT DOWN:

Sun July 15th 7-8:30PM, Levitt Pavillion Westport with Neil DeFeo and Bob
Price . Call 203-226-7600 for details.

Sat Aug 11th, 6:30-8:30PM (Please note the new time this year), Music MT
concert, Falls Village, CT., with Jim Fryer and Bob Price. If you've never been
to Music Mountain, please check it out this year. They have a picnic area
right on the grounds surrounding the venue. You can bring supper and picnic
before the music starts. The grounds are beautiful, as is the scenic drive
there. The venue itself is like an old church, with comfortable, padded pews.
And, because the acoustics are so good, we always record the performance and
produce a CD, that you can be a part of! Call 203-496-2596 for details.

Wed Aug 15th, 7-8PM, free concert at Ashlar Village, Newtown, CT., with Skip
Hughes and Bob Price.

Sat Sep 8th 8PM, special concert in New Jersey with Jim Fryer and Jane
Campedelli! This is Bruce Gast's 14th season putting on 'Jazz in Bridgewater'
concerts, and we're happy to be closing out the series for him this year. Bucky
Pizzarelli June 2nd, Midiri Brothers July 21st. Check out www.SCUW.org for
ticket prices and details on the entire series.

PS Last week, two of you complained that you received multiple copies of the
GJB Alert. Did anyone else receive more than one copy? My appologies to
those that did, though I have no idea why or how?? Please let me know if it
happens again.
