Hi GJB Fans,
The Hot Steamed Jazz Festival is set for 2008! Mark your calendars for June
27, 28 and 29. We'll be there along with a host of other talented musicians for
another great weekend of traditional jazz. For more information about the
festival and to order tickets, log on to www.hotsteamedjazz.com. If you would
like to receive updates directly from The Hot Steamed Jazz Festival, send an
email to info at hotsteamedjazz.com and ask to be added to their email distribution
list. From the Director: “The holiday season is almost upon us and festival
tickets make great holiday gifts. Order soon to ensure you receive tickets in
time to put under the tree or in the stockings!”
SUNDAYS at Marisa's in Trumbull! We played our last 2007 gig at Marisas on
Sunday, Oct 21st, and we had a ball! Trombonist Skip Hughes was great! We'll
let you know what our 2008 dates are as soon as we know! Remember, there is
no cover or minimum at Marisa's, but because the food is fabulous, you're
going to want to order dinner. There's dancing too! Marisa's is very easy to
get to: take the Merritt Parkway toward Trumbull, get off at Exit 48, head north
for about 3 miles, and it's on your right. This is a good size restaurant,
with plenty of seating and parking, and a nice dance floor too. Marisa's
address is 6540 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611. The telephone number is
203-459-4225.
Beachhead (East Haven, CT) Future performances to be announced, stay tuned.
Bill Logozzo's Heartbeat Jazz Band will be at Olivers in Essex on Thursday,
Nov 8th, 7-10PM, with Skip Hughes ! This is a great spot, nice casual
atmosphere, and good food at a reasonable price. Of course the music is hot hot hot!
Dancing too! Look for them at Olivers usually on the first Thursday of
each month. Contact Bill Logozzo at Bill @nutmegchrome.com for information on
the band and how to order CDs.
~November 16-18, Suncoast Dixieland Jazz Classic, Clearwater Beach, Florida.
Go to www.jazzclassic.net. We won't be there.
this year, but go anyway as the band lineup is fabulous! We hope to be back
in 2008!
News and happenings from our friend, Bruce McNichols
>From Good Friend Bill Taggart:
“Bruce has been moved to a rehab center in another part of town. They're
giving him medicine that allows him to get out of bed for brief sessions of
walking short distances. In other words, he's improving! He almost sounds
like his old self. He's got a long way to go but we have good reason to be
optimistic. He doesn't know how long he'll be in rehab but he promised to keep
me up to date.
He doesn't have access to a computer in the hospital. He can't reply to
email. I understand that if you send email to his regular address at Muskrat
Productions the messages will be periodically printed out and taken to him. In
the meantime he would prefer to not have a bunch of well-meaning friends
phoning him in the hospital all the time... This sounds rational to me. More
when I get it...Love y'all, Bill Taggart
“We're still at it (without Bruce). EVERY SUNDAY 12 Noon - 3PM

Galvanized Jazz Band CDs
Please check our web site, www.galvanizedjazz.com, for details on how and
what to order. We have a new CD in the works of our August Music Mountain
performance with Jim Fryer and Bob Price. It was a very special night and a great
performance. We'll let you know when it's available. We're also moving
along on the Howard Alden-Dirck Spicer-Noel Kaletsky CD from a fabulous Jan 1,
1984 Millpond Tavern session! We'll keep you posted. Oh yes, I found a box
of our Louis Nelson/Tommy Benford CD from 1971. This is a great session from
the past, so don't pass up this opportunity to get a copy.
See you soon! Thanks for your support!
