[Tradjazz] Radio OKOM

Some folks have commented to me that they haven't heard anything newer than 2005, on Radio OKOM. The fact is, we are regularly adding new programs to the mix.

As of now, we have over a month's worth of programming which repeats. In our early days we made announcements about upcoming trad jazz events. Because the programs repeat, we soon realized that this was not a good situation.

Somewhere in 2005, we stopped making these announcements. OKOM's founder, Bill Taggart, wanting to continue his credo of "spreading the faith," then developed our Trad Jazz e-mail Discussion Group, to provide a publicity vehicle for our friends in the biz.

Further, we began recording the programs for 57 minutes, rather than for a full hour. When we get our scheduling computer going, certain programs will run on pre-determined days and times. The last 3 minutes of each hour, will be used for timely promotional announcements for trad jazz events, recordings, etc.

Although you may not be hearing mentions of things after 2005, the fact is, many of the programs are considerably newer than that.

OKOM is a money-losing operation, run by all volunteers. We all have real jobs and therefore must eke out the time we devote to OKOM, from our already busy schedules.

It may not be perfect, but considering what we're working with, it's amazing how good it is.
AND WE'RE TRYIN' HARDER EVERY DAY!
