Dear Eric,
Graeme didn't turn up for the lunch last week, due to a more pressing
engagement for a routine medical check up.
However, the other day I put your your questions to him, and his
response was immediate.
He certainly recalled the Blue Posts pub. Fondly.
His response to Harry Brown was that "Oh yes, a wonderful little man -
and a great trombone player."
In fact, Harry Brown has is mentioned three times in Graemes 1988
autobiography: playing with George Webb's Dixielanders, then with Humph
at the farewell concert for the Bell band in July 1948 and later at the
famous Royal Festival Hall concert (July 1951) before HRH Princess
Elizabeth. Harry Brown was by then with Freddy Randall.
Graeme asked if I knew what happened to Harry following his musical
retirement from ill health in the 1960s, but my reference sources
provide nothing.
Kind regards,
Bill.
